The Traffic Operations Center will respond to any report of traffic signal problems, regardless of what government agency actually owns the signal. If the signal is owned by a City or County government agency, the TOC will ensure that your message is passed on to the appropriate agency.

If you see an urgent traffic signal malfunction or emergency, please report it at 801-887-3700. Traffic Operations Center operators will answer this number 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

If you are outside of area code 801, you may call 1-888-511-8368 toll free.

We'd like to hear from you!

Your comments and suggestions help us to improve the operation and efficiency of our traffic signals. Please let us know the location, the time of day, the day of the week, the direction, and the specific problem that you saw.

You may call in any comment, question, complaint, or suggestion about traffic signals at 801-887-3700 or send it by email to UDOT at:

Questions or complaints about non-emergency traffic signal timing usually require up to five working days to investigate and resolve.

We will reply by email within two working days to let you know that we have received your request and are working on it, if the problem could not be immediately resolved.

Once we have the answer to your question or corrected the problem that you reported, we'll contact you again by email with the resolution.

If you call, you may leave your name and telephone number and receive a call back from a traffic engineer who will tell you the resolution of your question.

Requests for new traffic signals require an extensive study and a more formal written process. If you contact us, we will let you know if a new traffic signal is already planned at the location you are interested in, and if not, how to make a formal request for a study.
